SAFETY First …Drop Off and Pick Ups:  Please be safe as you drive in the school area. The traffic signs will be placed at the corner of 26th Street by the church reminding traffic not to go west on 1st Avenue during drop off and pick up times at Highlawn Elementary.  For this reason, you are being asked to remember to travel WEST to EAST to drop off students.  This means that children will get out on the side in front of the school.

Drop off: 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. daily.  The doors open at 7:30 a.m.  The students walk the Husky Walk until 7:50 a.m. when they go to the classroom for breakfast and start the day.  The tardy bell will ring at 7:50 a.m.

Pick-ups:  All parents picking up students in or out of a vehicle will be required to sign their child out on the dismissal form.  Please have patience with us.  This is for the safety of the children.

EARLY PICKUPS: Please do not pick your child or children up early unless they have an appointment. It will be marked as an early unexcused dismissal until you bring in the Dr.’s note to verify leaving early.  If you must pick up early, please do so by 2:00 p.m.  Otherwise, we cannot let the students leave early during our regular dismissal routine as this causes extreme delays in the buses, vans and other pickups.  So please be considerate of others and don’t ask to leave early unless it’s an emergency and then you will need to bring in paperwork to back up your emergency.

PARKING FOR PARENT PICK UPS/DROP OFFS: Please park in designated parking areas (street parking or church lot) when picking up your children. Do not park in the bus zone or in handicapped parking areas (these are for parents with special needs students being dropped off or picked up).  The HPD issued tickets last year to numerous parents for parking violations.  Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Important DATES:   August 22nd PK begins they will go from 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
