 Celebrate Freedom Week Activities

 Dear Parents:

We will be celebrating Freedom next week and have a wide variety of activities planned for our students at Highlawn.  Please feel free to dress your children in red, white and blue all next week and help us CELEBRATE Freedom!

Monday’s September 11th Patriot Day Kickoff event will start at 7:50 a.m. on Highlawn’s Playground.  As a school we will say the pledge as a group outside and then have a moment of silence as a group to remember September 11th and honor Patriots’ Day. Please help us start out the week by dressing your child in patriotic colors and join us at 7:50 Monday on the playground for this event.  COME WALK WITH US!

Tuesday September 12th Declaration of Independence Day:  on this day all students will learn about the Declaration of Independence.

Wednesday September 13th Constitution Day: The students will learn the Preamble and about the Constitution.

Thursday September 14th The Bill of Rights and the Constitution will be taught to the students.

Friday September 15th Celebrate Freedom Day: The students and staff are invited to dress as their favorite US History person.  Everyone else is invited to wear red, white and blue as we celebrate our Freedom.

Throughout the week the Art, PE, and Music teacher will be integrating patriotic lessons in their classrooms.  If you have anything that you would like to share with us on during any of these days please let Ms. Harmon or your child’s teacher know.  We look forward to our Celebrating Freedom Week activities.

Special Needs Parking Only PLEASE:
Please do not park in designated handicapped parking areas.  These are for Special Education buses and parents dropping off students with special needs.  If you are an adult that has a sticker, please try to refrain from parking in the designated area near the playground.   The HPD issued tickets last year to numerous parents for parking violations.  Thank you very much for your cooperation.
